VPG has created a faster and more accurate alternative to current Rivet replacement practices, particularly on Airframes. The Rivet Hole Alignment Tool (RHAT), by VPG, has the advantage of reducing the demands on the technician whilst eliminating errors related to centering over the rivet for subsequent drilling and reaming. It has been validated by BAE and Boeing technicians that the tool provides a stable platform for removal or rivets with a greater than 90% reduction in the potential for damage to holes/panels and substrate.
The tool by VPG is manufactured and distributed globally under an exclusive licence granted by the Commonwealth of Australia represented by The Defence Science and Technology Group. The initial development was a result of a collaboration between DSTG and BAE Systems in Australia that sought a device to radically improve rivet replacement performance on the Hawk Jet Aircraft.
Feedback from export destinations has backed up our performance claims with the Rivet Hole Alignment Tool being able to recoup its investment cost in under 3 months.
